Press conference announcing the formation of IFEA, a coalition of organizations devoted to the continuation of the Internet as a forum for open expression and to identify new threats to free expression and First Amendment values on the Internet, whether legal or technological.

WHY:

To address the free speech issues raised by proposals to rate and filter "objectionable" content on the Internet. These proposals will be featured prominently at the White House-endorsed "Internet Online Summit" that opens on December 2.
